Passenger pubblica oggi il singolo con la collaborazione di Ed Sheeran “Sword from the Stone – Gingerbread Mix”

Ad una settimana dalla pubblicazione di Songs for the Drunk and Broken Hearted, il tredicesimo album di studio, Passenger pubblica il singolo aggiunto al disco durante il lockdown a cui ha collaborato, in questa versione, l’amico di lunga data Ed Sheeran

“Ed was really excited about the song when I played it to him and suggested that he produce a version that could potentially work as a radio single. It’s not every day you have that kind of offer from a pop genius, and I’m so delighted with what he and Joe have come up with. It’s been such a fun one to work on.” afferma Passenger sulla collaborazione.

Passenger pubblica ‘Songs for the Drunk and Broken Hearted’, il nuovo album popolato da personaggi ubriachi con il cuore spezzato. Il disco, il tredicesimo di studio per Passenger, è stato scritto dall’artista alla fine della relazione con la sua compagna: “You’re incredibly vulnerable for a few months. You’re so used to the safety of being with somebody and suddenly you’re out in the world on your own. And you get pissed and probably make some bad decisions. It’s universal. Most everyone goes through it at some stage”. 

La pubblicazione, inizialmente prevista per maggio 2020, è stata posticipata a causa della pandemia mondiale, ma dopotutto, Rosenberg non era comunque convinto che il disco fosse finito. E così, nelle settimane successive, si sono aggiunti tre nuovi brani, tra cui l’inedito ‘Sword From The Stone’, che apre l’album, scritto durante il primo lockdown.

“I’m so excited about this one. I wrote loads during lockdown, but I think this is the pick of the bunch. It’s that cliché that you make your most poignant work when you’re having a bit of a hard time. I have played it to friends and family, to people in the industry, to other musicians, and it seems to resonate across the board. I genuinely think it’s had the best reaction of any song I’ve ever written.”

La versione ‘Gingerbread Mix‘ di ‘Sword from the Stone’ pubblicata oggi, vede l’amico di lunga data Ed Sheeran alla produzione, insieme a Joe Rubel, e Spike Stent al mixer. Sulla collaborazione Passenger afferma: “Ed was really excited about the song when I played it to him and suggested that he produce a version that could potentially work as a radio single. It’s not every day you have that kind of offer from a pop genius, and I’m so delighted with what he and Joe have come up with. It’s been such a fun one to work on.“

Con la sua capacità di tenere il palco sia da solo che con band, Passenger si vede costretto a posticipare il lungo tour mondiale a supporto del nuovo disco. Nel frattempo, ha presentato il nuovo album in un concerto in diretta streaming, domenica 10 gennaio, dalla Royal Albert Hall di Londra.
